With New Album to Fight Cancer Marine Veteran & Firefighter Ask for Prayer, Says “I Believe in Miracles”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 27, 2023 (SAN FRANCISCO) – Bay Area Marine Corps Combat Veteran John Preston appeared on KTVU Fox’s Mornings on 2 to ask for prayer while promoting his recently released compilation album “God Magik”, a compilation album to bring awareness to the cause of breast cancer.
Speaking to KTVU journalist Claudine Wong about the personal breast cancer battle his friend and fellow Concore Entertainment musician Shane “5ilas” Roberts’ wife and mother of his children, Ariana is facing, he states, “You have to have love in this to understand that we can get out of this. I believe in miracles, I really do. The reason that we’re doing this, we drained our bank accounts just trying to make sure they were taken care of. Now we’re putting this out to the world so that they can pray with us.”

The God Magik album concept was born when Executive Producer and artist John Preston, heard about his friend and fellow Concore Entertainment musician 5ilas’ wife being diagnosed with stage four breast cancer and thyroid cancer. Their cancer fight laid the foundation for the album.
John Preston Music, in partnership with Concore Entertainment and Sony Music / The Orchard Distribution, released the multi-genre compilation album on February 24, which debuted at #32 on the iTunes Pop chart. God Magik highlights the personal struggles and fights for the many people across the globe that have been plagued with the vicious monster we all know as cancer, including Middle Tennessee-based Co-Producer Patricia Passaretti, who was diagnosed with two forms of stage 1a breast cancer in January of 2022. “The hope is to bring awareness to other women (and men) about early detection and learning to advocate for yourself in a system that sometimes fails, where patients are often denied the proper diagnostic tools,” Passaretti states. “If I didn’t have an incredible doctor who took the necessary steps to diagnosing my cancers, I could have been much worse off. This is why I speak out and wanted to be a part of such an incredible project.”
God Magik consists of TEN tracks, including Preston’s “Be Real” which shot up to #100 on Digital Radio Tracker’s Global Pop and #46 on DRT’s Independent Charts, “If I Could” by Brazilian pop singer Natalia Damini who hit #1 on the Billboard Emerging Artist Chart with her single “Crazy”, among other up and coming artists.

About John Preston:
John Preston is a Sony/Concore Entertainment recording artist, full-time firefighter, and a Marine Corps Combat veteran.
Since Preston emerged on the music scene in 2014, he has been a topic of the media using his platform for many charitable endeavors. He has taken his place as a prominent figure in the veteran and first responder community as an advocate against suicide and opening the conversation about mental health in the community and how to address it. Preston has been featured in outlets such as People.com, CNN, Fox, NBC, ABC and many more. His music, as strong as his presence in the press, has reached many accolades.
Preston is also the founder of 22 and You, a movement to save lives of first responders and veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress (PTS). He started the movement by embarking on a 630-mile hike from Palo Alto to San Diego that caught the attention of many individuals including first responders and veterans to walk alongside John. Encouraged by John’s perseverance, these fellow hikers shared their own personal battles or stories of loss as they descended the California coast together. The film “Carry the Weight” exploring Preston’s venture is due to release this year.
